Corticotomy

A small surgical procedure used to uncover a tooth that has stopped during growth and remained in the bone. A specialist oral surgeon uses the procedure to uncover the tooth, onto which an orthodontist pastes a bracket with a small chain, and then, by using slight force, we pull the tooth into the dental arch.

The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia on patients who already have fixed braces and lasts about half an hour. However, this is individual depending on the patient and
the position of the impacted tooth. The teeth in question are most frequently upper canines which are thus brought down, greatly improving the aesthetic of the dental arch, without any need for prosthetics or the  installation of implants.
